Job Overview

EJF is seeking a Programme Officer to support its IUU Campaign and newly launched alliance for legal, ethical, and sustainable fisheries in Thailand. The role focuses on coordinating stakeholders, empowering small-scale fisher (SSF) communities, and driving rights-based advocacy and policy engagement for fisheries transparency and labour rights.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a multi-stakeholder alliance including SSF groups, CSOs, youth, academia, and ethical seafood businesses
  • Lead alliance meetings and promote inclusive leadership
  • Conduct research on fisheries governance, labour rights, and marine ecosystems
  • Develop advocacy tools and facilitate community-led policy engagement
  • Organize legal literacy and policy advocacy training for grassroots groups
  • Support public engagement campaigns to amplify community voices
  • Monitor project outcomes through participatory evaluation and community feedback
  • Assist in financial planning and budget tracking aligned with community priorities
  • Contribute to donor reporting with a focus on impact stories and grassroots change

Qualification

  • Strong commitment to human rights, social and environmental justice
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in civil society, advocacy, or grassroots organizing
  • Proven ability to work with small-scale fishers, migrant workers, and Indigenous communities
  • Strong policy knowledge in labour rights and fisheries law
  • Excellent communication skills in Thai and English
  • Experience in alliance coordination and inclusive governance
  • Familiarity with gender equality, intersectionality, and inclusive practices
  • Project management and basic finance tracking skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of legislative processes, participatory research, and transparency frameworks is a plus
