Job Overview

UNESCO Bangkok is seeking an experienced education consultant to guide the development of a customized AI Competency Framework for Teachers in Lao PDR. The role involves providing strategic and technical support to a national task force, ensuring the framework is contextually relevant, aligned with Lao PDR’s education strategies, and meets global UNESCO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze relevant national and international competency frameworks.
  • Advise on structure, methodology, and content of the AI Competency Framework.
  • Design and facilitate two 5-day national technical workshops to draft and refine the framework.
  • Provide expert guidance to the national task force on ethical, inclusive, and effective AI integration in education.
  • Conduct an analytical review of the draft framework, giving technical feedback and recommendations.
  • Plan and co-facilitate a national validation meeting to finalize the framework.
  • Synthesize stakeholder feedback and integrate final revisions.
  • Prepare a close-out report documenting the process, key inputs, and recommendations.

Qualification

Education:

  • Master’s degree or higher in education, teacher education, curriculum development, educational technology, AI in education, or related fields.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in education with expertise in digital/AI competencies for teachers, professional development, or curriculum design.
  • Proven experience in designing/adapting competency frameworks for educators.
  • Skilled in planning and facilitating technical workshops and consultations.
  • Experience working in multicultural, multi-stakeholder settings, preferably in the Asia-Pacific region.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, research, and educational planning skills.
  • Ability to synthesize technical inputs into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for remote collaboration.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Lao or Thai an advantage.
