Job Overview

The Regional Coordination and Communications Specialist will support UN Women’s efforts to end violence against women in Asia-Pacific. The role involves coordinating with UN agencies, governments, and civil society partners; leading communications and advocacy campaigns; managing knowledge-sharing; and ensuring donor visibility. The Specialist will also support flagship projects such as the EU-funded PROTECT Project and the UN Joint Programme on GBV Prevention in Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate regional UNiTE Campaign and inter-agency working groups.
  • Liaise with UN agencies, partners, and governments to align EVAW initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and disseminate advocacy and communication materials.
  • Ensure media engagement and donor visibility in EVAW campaigns.
  • Monitor, document, and report on programme activities and results.
  • Support knowledge management and communication strategies.
  • Organize advocacy campaigns, events, and workshops.
  • Provide technical inputs to speeches, reports, and donor communication.
  • Act as communications focal point for Thailand’s PROTECT Project.

Qualification

  • Advanced degree in development, gender studies, law, social sciences, or communications.
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in ending violence against women and/or gender-based violence.
  • Strong coordination, networking, and partnership-building skills.
  • Proven track record in communications, advocacy, and public outreach.
  • Experience with high-visibility events and campaigns (including social media).
  • Strong English writing and communication skills; Asian language an asset.
  • Familiarity with UN system procedures is an advantage.
