Job Overview

The Project Coordinator will manage and oversee a regional project on disaster risk communication and early warning systems in Southeast Asia, funded by the European Union (DG ECHO). The role focuses on strengthening inclusive and accessible early warning systems in Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR, with emphasis on women, girls, and persons with disabilities. The coordinator will liaise with governments, local authorities, civil society, and media partners to ensure effective delivery and sustainability of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate project implementation in line with workplan, budget, and donor requirements.
  • Manage field-level activities with implementing partners and communities.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with UN financial rules.
  • Liaise with DG ECHO and other stakeholders, ensuring donor visibility and reporting.
  • Prepare grants, contracts, agreements, and related documentation.
  • Draft donor and internal reports, case studies, and knowledge products.
  • Facilitate cross-country exchange of best practices in risk communication.
  • Represent UNDRR at relevant meetings and workshops.
  • Travel regularly to project sites in Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in disaster risk reduction, risk communication, or related fields.
  • Experience with multi-country projects and donor reporting.
  • Strong project and financial management skills.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships with government, civil society, and media.
  • Knowledge of gender-responsive and disability-inclusive approaches.
  • Desirable: Experience with DG-ECHO, supervising staff, UN or international organization experience, and work in Southeast Asia.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
