Project Coordinator – Disaster Risk Communication

Job Overview

This role supports a regional project on disaster risk communication and early warning systems in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR). The Project Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day implementation and coordination of the project, ensure effective stakeholder engagement, and contribute to improving early warning systems for vulnerable populations, including women and persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the overall project implementation and field activities.
  • Lead communication among stakeholders including authorities, media, and communities.
  • Supervise and guide the National UN Volunteer supporting the project.
  • Oversee project budget, expenditure, procurement, and compliance with UN procedures.
  • Liaise with the donor (DG ECHO), prepare reports, and ensure visibility guidelines are followed.
  • Monitor project results and draft progress reports and knowledge products.
  • Organize learning exchanges and documentation of best practices.
  • Travel regularly to project sites in Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR.

Qualification

  • At least 7 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, risk communication, or related fields.
  • Proven experience working with donors, preferably DG ECHO.
  • Experience managing multi-country projects and supervising staff.
  • Skilled in working with diverse stakeholders, including government, civil society, and media.
  • Knowledge of gender-responsive and disability-inclusive practices.
  • Strong coordination, planning, and communication skills.
  • Desirable: Previous UN or international development experience; familiarity with Southeast Asia.
