Job Overview

The Senior Statistical Assistant will support the UIS ASEAN Education Status Report by compiling, validating, and analyzing education data across ASEAN countries. The role involves working closely with regional and global stakeholders, ensuring data quality, producing statistical outputs, and assisting in workshops and capacity-building activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop UIS education indicators and technical documentation.
  • Compile, process, and validate national and regional education datasets.
  • Produce statistical reports, charts, and presentations.
  • Maintain and update statistical databases and web pages.
  • Liaise with UN agencies and other stakeholders for statistical information.
  • Respond to data requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, workshops, and projects.

Qualification

Essential:

  • Completion of secondary, technical, or vocational education.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, Stata).
  • Excellent MS Excel, MS Access, SAS skills.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, Tableau).
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in statistics, data science, analytics, or related field.
  • Experience in official statistics, scripting, and programming (SQL, VBA, Java).
  • Familiarity with multi-stakeholder projects and UN system work.
  • Technical writing and co-authorship of statistical reports.
  • Knowledge of additional UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
